Conrad Dobler Cause of Death: Conrad Dobler, an outstanding NFL offensive lineman during the 1970s, has died. He was 72. Monday, Dobler passed away in Pueblo, Colorado, per the Arizona Cardinals. The cause of death was not revealed.

Dobler was a left guard for the “Cardiac Cardinals” of St. Louis, whose offensive line featured Hall of Famer Dan Dierdorf.

After ten years of eye gouging, leg whipping, and finger biting in the NFL trenches during the 1970s, Dobler was known for his dirty play. He even titled his autobiography “They Call Me Dirty.” In a 1987 commercial for Miller Lite, Dobler adopted his mischievous persona by urging the audience to oppose the slogan “Tastes great/Less filling.”

In our thoughts and prayers are Conrad Dobler’s friends, family, and former teammates, Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said in a statement. He was the kind of rugged, physical, and fierce individual you would rather have on your team than as an opponent.

Christine Woodward Obituary: Cause of Death

Conrad played a crucial role in the 1970s Cardiac Cards’ triumph on the field. Away from it, he was a genuine source of happiness and kindness for everyone who had the privilege of calling him a friend, and that is what I will miss the most.

Dobler won three consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl while playing for Hall of Fame coach Don Coryell between 1975 and 1977. By allowing eight sacks, the 1975 offence established a new record for the NFL.

Between 1972 and 1977, he played for the Cardinals. He then spent two seasons with New Orleans and two seasons with Buffalo. Wyoming’s Dobler was selected in the fifth round of the 1972 NFL Draft. Still living are six of his children and twelve of his grandchildren.
