Emily Swallow Mandalorian Season 3: Breaking Character On Set

The Mandalorian has increased our appreciation for previously unlikeable characters, including The Armorer. Emily Swallow delivers an outstanding performance as the enigmatic and ultimately unhelpful character who is not on Din Djarin’s side. Until then, she was unaware that disagreements over the “ideas” of what constitutes a Mandalorian contributed to the decline of the ethnic minority’s population. Even “this is the way” does not advocate killing other humans. And Collider had the pleasure of interviewing Swallow in the Star Wars Celebration press line following the Lucasfilm panel! Swallow’s passion for her Star Wars role is one of the best aspects of the show.

She elaborated at length on the unanticipated difficulties and time commitment involved in the production of The Mandalorian. We inquired as to what shocking revelation transpired during the production of the series. “Oh, my!” The issue is that there are so many that processing them takes forever… She continued by saying, “I mean, to make it seem so cool. It was as if we had been transported to a beautiful mountain lake. And I responded, “I would love to go there,” but we were actually on a soundstage where they had constructed this incredible artificial sand.

However, not everything is a game. Swallow was asked about incidents of breaking on set and the repercussions for those who disrupt production. However, Swallow acknowledged that she often embarrassed herself. I already mess things up by being like… When I am being filmed, I am always stoic and serious.

But I also, you know, can’t really see much, and it used to be that I couldn’t — in Season 1, my gloves were large, and Jon referred to them as my oven mitts, so when I tried to pick up my tools because I’m supposed to be a very competent forger, welder, and metalworker, I couldn’t because the gloves were too large and cumbersome. She remarked, “It’s humiliating to be expected to know what you’re doing.” She then went on to describe an altercation she had with Din Djarin.

“There have been numerous occasions when Din Djarin and I have been in close proximity while conversing, and then our helmets have collided, resulting in a Three Stooges-like effect. However, I am having the time of my life when acting out scenes with this green guy. We are shooting Grogu, who is merely a puppet, because of his coverage. When asked what she does with the Grogu puppet, she responded, “I just have him sing songs and type in lines that he couldn’t possibly be saying, that he’s not really saying, and I’m not concerned about embarrassing a real actor.” This fact alone amplifies the awe-inspiring nature of her reappearance as the Armorer.
