Har Ghar Tiranga in Jharkhand: JSLPS runs against time to produce 10 lakh national flags

The president of the Ranchi Training cum Production Centre (TPC) group informed that the order to manufacture 10 lakh ‘tirangas’ was given to them on July 25 by the state government.

The Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) is supposed to manufacture and distribute 10 lakh national flags by August 7 under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative. However, they have managed to produce only 70,000 flags as of Thursday.

The president of the Ranchi Training cum Production Centre (TPC) group informed that the order to manufacture 10 lakh ‘tirangas’ was given to them on July 25 by the state government.

“The 10 lakh national flags will be manufactured and distributed by the Sakhi Mandal members of JSLPS in 10 of the 16 TPCs present in the state. The flag’s dimensions will be 16×24 inches and 20×30 inches. We will be allotted 5 districts to distribute the national flags,” he said.

He added the cost of making one flag will be around Rs 16 to 17 and it will be sold for Rs 20 per flag. They will be sold by the members of Sakhi Mandals in the respective TPCs.

The president said there had been delays in the production as the cloth used to make the flag is not available in Jharkhand and they have to export it from other states.

“For the initiative, JSLPS has been provided with a loan of Rs 1 crore 35 lakh which they will repay after selling all the flags. The rest of the amount will be the earning of the ‘didis’ of ‘Sakhi Mandals’,” he added.

The Secretary of the Department of Tourism & Art Culture Amitabh Kaushal said that the government is eyeing a total of 80 lakh households in Jharkhand for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative.

To meet the requirements of 80 lakh flags, JSLPS and industries will be providing 20 lakh flags whereas the state government has requested the central government to meet the requirement of 40 lakh flags. The remaining 40 lac flags will be bought by people on their own.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.
