When announcing the officer’s death to the community on Thursday morning, Chief Thomas Gryphon described Breckenridge as “one of the kindest and gentlest people I’ve ever had the honour to know.”

Gryphon stated, “Henry was an outstanding police officer with a firm grasp of community policing, and as a dedicated member of our team, he will be greatly missed,”

He stated that Breckenridge experienced complications during a non-emergency surgery, and he died “despite the heroic efforts of the Salem Hospital staff.”

Gryphon stated that Breckenridge had a laugh and smile that “we will forever remember” and that he had a significant influence on the youth of the city.

Gryphon stated, “There has been an outpouring of support for him from numerous young people whose lives he positively impacted.” These are evidences of the quality of his character, which includes genuineness, generosity, and compassion.

Breckenridge, according to the superintendent of schools in Peabody, is “an amazing person and an integral part of our schools and community.”

The Peabody-Lynnfield-North Reading girls hockey team tweeted, “As we struggle to find the appropriate words, we extend our deepest condolences.” “Our hearts ache for your loss, and we share your grief during this incredibly difficult time.”

The absence of Officer Breckenridge leaves an irreplaceable vacancy in the lives of countless individuals. Additionally, departments from across the North Shore sent messages of support.

In a statement, the Danvers police said, “The men and women of the Danvers Police Department extend our deepest condolences to the entire Peabody Police Department as well as Officer Henry Breckenridge’s family and friends.” The smile of Henry says it all. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will mourn him greatly.”

Gryphon asserts that the Breckenridge family is experiencing a difficult time and is “devastated” by the loss. He emphasised the importance of the city and police department coming together to support the family and each other in the coming weeks and months.

“We must all pull together and rely on one another during this challenging time,” he said.
