Jeff Garlin Illness: Garlin Explicitly Discusses Bipolar Disorder

On Instagram, the actor candidly discussed his mental health, disclosing that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Alongside an image of Stafford Repp as Chief O’Hara from the television series “Batman,” Garlin wrote, “Bipolar is a motherf**ker.” He added, “Sometimes it’s simply too much to handle. I am exerting maximum effort. This is the first time I’ve spoken publicly about this topic.

Season 10 Debut of The Goldbergs

Garlin’s revelation occurred at the same time as the premiere of the tenth season of “The Goldbergs.” The programme had previously hinted at his character’s demise, but the details were only revealed in the pilot. Adam (played by Sean Giambrone) laments in the episode, “We lost my father out of the blue a few months ago. We will adore you forever, Dad. at all times. And we will find a means to remain a unit. Because we are the Goldbergs, after all.

Following an investigation into his on-set behaviour, ABC confirmed Garlin’s departure. Unknown are the precise causes for his departure during the ninth season. However, in an interview with Vanity Fair, Garlin clarified that he was not terminated, but he did admit to ongoing HR investigations regarding his behaviour over the past three years.

While the show utilised previously recorded footage of Garlin to conclude Season 9, his openness about his mental health has highlighted the importance of understanding and empathy in the entertainment industry.
