Lake County Deputy Involved in Rear-End Collision with Fellow Patrol Car: Tuesday morning, a marked Lake County deputy’s vehicle was rear-ended, resulting in a subsequent collision with another deputy’s cruiser, according to reports from the Sheriff’s Office. According to trooper information, the collision occurred at approximately 12:35 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 50 and East Avenue in Clermont.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred while the deputy was en route to a summons. The events transpired when two sheriff’s office patrol vehicles halted at a red light in the inside lane of westbound SR-50.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a westbound Chrysler failed to stop in time and collided with one of the LCSO vehicles that had been positioned ahead. As a result, the Groveland man’s 40-year-old Chrysler struck the rear of the LCSO vehicle, propelling it into the other adjacent patrol car.

The impact of the rear-end collision caused significant damage to the LCSO vehicle, but only minor injuries were reported for the second involved patrol car. Clermont police and the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the site to offer assistance and support.

One constable was transported to the hospital after the incident with minor injuries. Thankfully, no additional information is available regarding the vehicle and driver who caused the rear-end collision.
