Ranchi violence: Jharkhand High Court directs DGP, Home Secretary to file reply

The court also asked the NIA to file its preliminary enquiry report in the matter.

The Jharkhand High Court hearing a PIL on violence in Ranchi on June 10 observed that except changing the SSP, the State has done nothing to expedite probe into the matter.

The PIL was filed by Pankaj Yadav demanding a NIA probe into the matter. The petitioner through its petition raised the issue of intelligence failure saying the trouble makers had come from outside.

The high court expressed its dissatisfaction over the affidavit filed by lower rank police officers in Ranchi violence and asked the DGP and the Home Secretary to file an affidavit in the matter and also to explain under which circumstances the SSP and the officer-in-charge of the Daily market police station was transferred.

The court also asked the NIA to file its preliminary enquiry report in the matter.

Earlier, advocate Rajeev Kumar representing Yadav said the case was handed over to the CID after taking it from SIT and it is an attempt to delay the probe.
