As part of the agreement, they will dismiss two serious identity theft charges.
Rapper G Herbo Faces Federal Fraud Case: According to the Chicago Tribune and The Republican, G Herbo has decided to plead guilty in Massachusetts to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and making a false statement to a federal official.
As part of the agreement, they will dismiss two serious identity theft charges. Later this month, the rapper is expected to enter a guilty plea in court, and he could face up to 20 years in prison.
Pitchfork has queried G Herbo’s attorney, James W. Lawson, about the plea agreement.
In 2020, G Herbo and five other men were indicted by a federal grand jury for their participation in a fraud conspiracy.
The indictment accused them of purchasing private jet excursions, exotic car rentals, designer puppies, and more with stolen payment and credit card information.
G Herbo’s management stated after the indictment was made public that the rapper maintained his innocence and looked forward to proving it in court.
He pled not guilty and defended himself in the song “Statement.” However, he was subsequently charged with lying to a federal official.
G Herbo Accepts a Guilty Plea
G Herbo has consented to plead guilty to wire fraud and lying to federal agents, Rolling Stones reports, after being indicted by a federal grand jury in Springfield, Massachusetts in 2020.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Herbo and five associates, including promoter Antonio Strong, were accused of using stolen identities to rack up up to $1.5 million in fraudulent charges, including private jet excursions, a vacation to a villa in Jamaica, and “designer puppies.” As one of the private airline proprietors is headquartered in Massachusetts, the case was filed there.
Wright is expected to enter a formal guilty plea in July, pending the judge’s approval of the plea agreement. According to court documents, he faces up to 20 years in prison, but is likely to receive a lesser sentence with the possibility of probation.
G Herbo has released two albums since then: ’25’ and ‘Survivor’s Remorse.’ In Chicago, he was detained for the illegal use of a weapon earlier this month after being stopped by police.”
