Selena Gomez Mental Health, Her Own Battle, Told Through Her Own Words

Selena Gomez Mental Health: It is time to start a conversation. Selena Gomez has been very forthcoming regarding her struggles with mental health.

In 2014, when the singer was diagnosed with lupus, she sought immediate medical attention. Since then, she has voluntarily participated in several anxiety, panic attack, and depression treatment programmes. Us Weekly reported that nine months after January 2018 she was still receiving “open-ended” mental health treatment.

She disclosed her bipolar disorder in April 2020, when she was diagnosed with the condition. In an episode of Miley’s “Bright Minded” Instagram series, she told Miley Cyrus, “That doesn’t worry me once I know it.” That would certainly frighten many people, wouldn’t it?

Additionally, the founder of Rare Beauty has utilised her profile to promote discussion of mental health through interviews with professionals and by highlighting related topics in her own work.

From 2017 to 2020, she served as an executive producer on the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, which raised important questions about the challenges facing today’s youth.

Gomez, discussing the show’s serious themes, said, “This is occurring every day” during a 2017 interview on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. “That’s the way it is, whether or not you wanted to see it. There’s a lot of dense information here. It’s gloomy, and there are some really tough to take in moments, and I knew we were taking on something challenging”.

The “Bad Liar” singer maintained her public advocacy for emotional self-awareness throughout the coronavirus pandemic, which brought the topic to the forefront of people’s minds all around the world. In October 2020, she talked to President Joseph Biden’s surgeon general, Dr. Vivek Murthy, on Instagram Live about the isolation she was feeling while under lockdown.

She talked about the first few months in isolation, saying, “In the beginning, I couldn’t deal with it too well.” Yet, I eventually found a place to go where I could write and do physical things; this compelled me to make time for these pursuits. I’m spending more time than ever before with my loved ones, and that includes my extended family.

Murthy gave the example of Gomez to illustrate why it’s so crucial to talk about your emotions. He remarked, “There are various ways to reach out if you acknowledge that [nearly everyone is struggling in some way].” “When we assist other people, we take the spotlight off of ourselves in a mutually beneficial exchange… and we remind ourselves that what we have to offer the world is important.”
