The incident led to the apprehension of the 14-year-old rival of Notti Osama, who was initially charged with second-degree murder. The murder charge against him was reduced to first-degree manslaughter after prosecutors learned that he and his friends had trapped the accused, who had stabbed the young rapper while attempting to flee. Additionally, he was detained for possession of contraband.

Despite initial reports that the 15-year-old would be charged with second-degree murder, prosecutors ultimately submitted a first-degree manslaughter charge. Even before the teen’s arraignment that week, the prosecution had doubts about the case, stating that he was investigating the teen’s claims of self-defense and of having been assaulted by Notti Osama’s associates in the weeks preceding the stabbing.
