30% VA Disability Benefits: Monthly Payment Rates for Veterans With Dependent Spouse

A veteran with a 30% VA disability rating and a spouse receives a set monthly compensation amount, updated annually. Payments depend on the VA’s official rates, which adjust for cost-of-living increases.

30% VA Disability Benefits: The Department of Veterans Affairs has confirmed the new disability pay rates for 2025. Veterans with a 30% disability rating can now see exactly how much they will get each month, including those who have family or dependents.

For the new year, a veteran with a 30% rating and no family will get $537.42 every month. If they have a spouse, that monthly amount will rise to $601.42. That extra $64 a month can help cover the added costs of having a partner.

2026 VA Disability Rates: When Will the New Increase Be Announced?

How VA Decides the Amount?

The VA works out the pay based on how serious a veteran’s service-related injury is. They use a scale from 0% to 100% in steps of 10%. Once a veteran’s rating is 30% or higher, the VA also looks at their family situation. Spouses, children, and even dependent parents can be counted, which changes the amount paid each month.

For example, in 2025 a veteran with a 30% rating, a spouse, and one child will get $646.42 each month. If their spouse needs extra care, the monthly pay can go even higher.

Why this is Important for Veterans

The 30% rating is an important milestone. Veterans at this level can get more benefits than those with 10% or 20%, such as free VA health care for service-connected issues, help with travel costs, and extra payments for family members.

These rates are tax-free and paid every month, giving veterans steady income they can depend on. The increase for 2025 comes from a 2.5% Cost-of-Living Adjustment that started in December 2024, which boosted all VA disability rates.
