$600 Social Security Increase: US Administration Office Warns of ‘Fake’ Cost of Living Increase for SSDI Recipients

Millions of Americans receive monthly income from Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) on June 18th, with payments sent one day early for those born between June 11th and 20th.

$600 social security increase: Since information about a hoax came to light, the US government has told people to be more careful when checking information about their Social Security payments.

False information is being spread about a made-up $600 rise in Social Security benefits, saying it will happen in June 2024.

The cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) is currently increased by $600, however, U.S. officials have emphasized that this information is “false” and “should be ignored.”

People who want to obtain their personal information to receive a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) from the Social Security Administration (SSA) should be wary of attempts to do so, according to the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at the SSA.

2025 COLA: Social Security benefit projected to decrease for 2025

Martin O’Malley, the commissioner of Social Security, stated, “Reports of a $600 payment increase are FALSE. Please be aware and don’t fall for this stunt.” “We are tackling these fraudulent claims at their origin and warning the public about these lies. There will be no increases to the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) until January 2025.

The annual cost-of-living increases, according to Inspector General Gail S. Ennis, are “always automatic” and don’t require any other evidence to be granted.

It is recommended that claimants exercise additional caution when protecting their personal information, as con artists may try to steal your identity, money, or both.

Is a future COLA rise anticipated?

SSA has released its annual COLA in December since 1983. SSA claimants receive letters in early December regarding the amount of benefits they will receive in January.

Furthermore, after the modification is made public, Social Security account holders will be able to view their notice online.

$1800 Social Security Payment: Who will receive a $1800 Social Security payment?

If it applies, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has stated that they will provide a fresh COLA in October. Benefits under the COLA would then start to be paid in January 2025.

For correct information, those who are still unclear about COLA details should visit the official SSA website.
