So one family might see money on the first of the month and another family might see it a few days later. The deposits happen through the EBT card, which is the same card people use to get CalFresh food stamps.

How they decide the date?

The date of the deposit is not random. It comes from the last number on the family’s case file. If the case number ends with 1, the family will see money on September 1. If the case number ends with 2, the money shows up on September 2. If it ends with 3, then it is September 3, and so on until September 10. Every county in California follows this plan but some counties may have very small changes. Still, almost all families will get their money between September 1 and September 10.
