Extra Money from SSA: When will my Social Security check for July arrive?

The timetable for Social Security and SSDI payments in July is as follows:

  • July 3: Benefits for individuals who began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997.
  • July 10: Reimbursement for birthdays occurring on the first and tenth of the month.
  • July 17: Birthday payments for anyone born between July 11 and July 20, inclusive.
  • July 24: Reimbursement for birthdays falling on any day between July 21 and July 31.

How do I find out when my payment is due?

The Social Security Administration typically sends out payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month:

  • Second Wednesday: Birthdays between the 1st and 10th.
  • Third Wednesday: Birthdays between the 11th and 20th.
  • Fourth Wednesday: Birthdays between the 21st and 31st.

With a few exceptions listed below, SSI recipients normally receive payments on the first of each month.

Will my SSI and Social Security benefits arrive on the same day?

The timetable varies if you began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997, or if you receive both Social Security and SSI. In these situations, your SSI will be paid on the first of the month and your Social Security on the third.

Social Security Extra Payment July: Is a $600 Boost Really Coming for SSI Beneficiaries?

The payment dates are changed if the first or third day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday. For instance, payments are issued on the next available weekday if the third occurs on a weekend. Since March 3rd fell on a weekend, payments for March were distributed on March 1st rather than the 3rd.

What happens if my check doesn’t arrive?

If your check does not arrive on the scheduled date, the Social Security Administration advises you to wait three more mailing days before calling them. After then, 800-772-1213 is the number to reach a representative. (Note: Wait times are less on weekdays between 4 and 7 p.m. and from Wednesday through Friday.)
