Kamala Harris VA Disability: What a Kamala Harris Presidency Could Mean for Veterans

Kamala Harris leads Democratic ticket for 2024 presidential election, supporting Biden's policies on veterans and military, but has less involvement in military and veteran affairs.

Kamala Harris VA Disability: Vice President Kamala Harris now leads the Democratic ticket for the 2024 presidential election after President Joe Biden’s surprising decision not to seek reelection. While this has brought Harris more into the spotlight, it has also drawn attention to her relatively lesser-known track record on military and veteran issues compared to Biden.

As vice president, Harris supported Biden’s key policies regarding veterans and the military, such as expanding veterans’ benefits and overseeing the 2021 U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. However, she hasn’t been deeply involved in military and veteran affairs during her time in office.

100% VA Disability and Unemployability: The Key Differences

Her background in this area stems more from her time as a U.S. senator, where she voted on legislation impacting veterans and military personnel. Additionally, as California’s attorney general, Harris took action against for-profit colleges that targeted veterans. This history offers insight into how a potential Harris presidency might approach veterans’ issues.

Rather than examining Harris’s military and veteran’s record, Republicans have mostly attacked her on the campaign trail due to her involvement in the immigration policies of the Biden administration. Harris, on the other hand, has highlighted that, in contrast to the Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, she has prosecutorial experience.

Harris emphasized her history of confronting wrongdoers at her first rally as a presidential contender, saying, “I took on perpetrators of all kinds” and claiming to know “Donald Trump’s type.”

Focus is on veterans’ issues as Harris begins his presidential campaign

Examining this scenario, it is evident that Harris’s position on veteran’s and military affairs will be of interest as she assumes a more important position within the Democratic party. Her prioritization in this area is somewhat evident from her activities during her tenure as California’s attorney general and in the Senate.

VA Benefits Evaluations: How to Prepare for a Veteran Benefit Evaluation

Republicans might see Harris’s lack of attention to military and veteran problems as a weakness and want to focus on immigration policies instead. Still, Harris’s focus on her experience as a prosecutor shows that she is ready to take on these tasks.

As she becomes more important in the upcoming race, people will probably pay more attention to what she says about the military and veterans’ issues. What soldiers and active military members can expect from her as president is based on what she has done and said in the past.

Even though Harris doesn’t have as much of a track record in this area as Biden, her position is still important and will be closely looked at as her race goes on.
