Medicaid Cuts Under Trump’s 2025 Bill: Full 2025–2029 Timeline And Impact

Medicare Open Enrollment 2026 is Important

During this period, people get the chance to look at new options or stay with their old plan. Plans usually change things like premiums, deductibles, co-pays, and even the list of medicines they cover. Some plans also bring in new rules like prior approval before getting a drug, step therapy, or even limits on how much medicine you can get.

If someone’s current plan is discontinued, then they must pick a new one. Plans are required to send notice in advance. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reminds everyone to carefully check their Annual Notice of Change letter. The agency says, “It is very important to read this letter as these changes can have a large impact on the cost of your drugs.”

How to choose and sign up?

To join any Medicare drug or health plan, a person needs Part A and Part B, must live in the plan’s service area, and should be either a U.S. citizen or lawfully present. Once a plan looks good, enrollment can be done online at Medicare.gov, by calling 1-800-MEDICARE, by contacting the plan directly, or even by filling a paper application. TTY users can call 1-877-486-2048.

Before signing up ,  it’s important to check if your doctor and pharmacy are in the plan’s network and whether the plan covers your needs if you live part-time in another state. People with other insurance should also see how both plans will work together before making changes. Every year these drug plans change, so a plan that worked last year may no longer be the best choice. Even a small rise in premiums or a change in the drug list can increase costs for you.
