Social Security beneficiaries can contact their agency or nearest office for questions, but government holidays may affect business hours. Online channels are available for handling benefits-related issues.

Of course, they won’t be open on July 4 because it’s a government holiday. As a result, the federal government has declared that should problems arise with their benefits, beneficiaries can still use their online channels to handle matters.

Other than Independence Day, which comes on July 4, the Social Security Administration said their offices will be closed on federal holidays. Based on the official website of the agency, the following federal holidays will also see the closing of all SSA offices:

Importance of the US Social Security System

An essential program that provides coverage for families whose breadwinners die or become disabled, as well as a basic income for retirement planning, is Social Security. In 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Social Security into law. By February 2024, one in five US residents—more than 67 million—were getting monthly payments. Out of these claimants, four were elderly and five were either SSDI recipients or young survivors of dead workers.
