KBC 14: In Mahabharata, which of these warriors created the Chakravyuha during the battle at Kurukshetra?
Option:
A. Bhishma
B. Hypotenuse
C. Arjun
D. Dronacharya
Answer: Dronacharya
During the Kurukshetra war, Dronacharya composed Chakravyuha in the Mahabharata. Arjuna was determined to end the Mahabharata war by destroying the Kaurava army. Guru Drona noticed that Arjuna had left, so he created a chakravyuh to hold Yudhishthira hostage during this time. Chakravyuh is a multi-layered defensive military structure that, when viewed from above, resembles a chakra or padma; each gate is guarded by a maharathi warrior. Dronacharya, the chief commander of the Kauravas, used this exercise to capture Dharmaraja Yudhishthira in the Mahabharata. Only Arjuna, Krishna, Pradyumna, and Abhimanyu were aware of its penetration in the Pandava side, but only Abhimanyu was present when it was created. Abhimanyu had gained this knowledge while still in his mother’s womb, but he had no idea how to get out of it.
Dronacharya devised the Chakravyuha on the 13th day of the war with a motive to capture Yudhishtira, the leader of the Pandavas, as a prisoner of war. Such deadly was the trap of Chakravyuh that only few talented warriors like Krishna, Arjuna, Drona, Bhisma and Pradyumna knew the way to break in and come out of it.
