How to Activate DISH Anywhere on Firestick, Roku & Smart TV

DISH system requirements also call out iOS and iPadOS. They mention Chromecast for casting. Apple TV is not listed as a supported built-in DISH Anywhere platform.

How to Activate DISH Anywhere: If you want to use DISH Anywhere on a streaming device, the steps vary. It mainly depends on whether your device has the official DISH Anywhere app.

How to Activate DISH Anywhere on Fire TV Stick?

Fire TV and Fire TV Stick are two devices that DISH lists as having an official activation path.

Step 1: Install DISH Anywhere

On your Fire TV or Fire TV Stick:

1. Go to the Home screen.

2. Open Apps, or use the search option.

3. Find DISH Anywhere.

4. Download it and install the real DISH Anywhere app.

5. Open the app.

If you are asked for a code, type in your Amazon PIN.

Step 2: Look for the activation code

When you launch DISH Anywhere for the first time, your TV should show an activation code.

Do not close that screen.

Step 3: Visit the activation page

On a phone, tablet or computer, go to: DISH Anywhere Activation

Sign in with the same MyDISH username and password you use for your DISH account.

Step 4: Type in the code

Enter the activation code shown on your TV.

Then choose ACTIVATE DEVICE.

After the code goes through, your Fire TV should bring up the DISH Anywhere home screen on its own.

4. On another device, visit the official activation page.

Can You Activate DISH Anywhere on Roku?

There is no official way to activate DISH Anywhere on Roku right now.

That matters, because some third-party posts still claim you can get the app on Roku and use an activation code.

DISH’s system requirements page does not list Roku as a supported platform for DISH Anywhere. DISHs TV setup guide points to Fire TV or Fire Stick and to Android TV instead.

So if you own a Roku TV or a Roku streaming stick and you cannot locate the DISH Anywhere app, there is no official method at dishanywhere.com/activate that will make Roku work.

What can you do instead?

If your TV has Roku built in, you may need a different supported box or streaming device. For example, you can use a Fire TV Stick or a compatible Android TV device, if that fits your setup.

DISH also supports Chromecast for casting, based on the same system requirements details.

Can You Activate DISH Anywhere on Apple TV?

DISH support pages do not name Apple TV as a built-in DISH Anywhere option.

So you should not assume the same activation steps will work on Apple TV that work on Fire TV or Android TV.

DISH system requirements also call out iOS and iPadOS. They mention Chromecast for casting. Apple TV is not listed as a supported built-in DISH Anywhere platform.

If you use an iPhone or an iPad, DISH tells you to use the DISH Anywhere app. They do not point you to dishanywhere.com in that case.

What about a Samsung, LG or other smart TV?

This depends on what software your TV runs. Just having “smart” features does not guarantee DISH Anywhere is supported.

DISH compatibility notes do not describe a native DISH Anywhere activation flow for a generic Samsung, LG, or similar smart TV.

If your TV runs Android TV or Google TV, and the DISH Anywhere app is there, you may be able to follow the Android TV activation steps.

If your TV uses a different smart TV system and the app is not available, you will need a different supported device.

DISH Anywhere Activation Code Not Working?

First, if DISH Anywhere fails to work on a supported Fire TV or Android TV device, use these steps.

1. Get a fresh activation code: Quit DISH Anywhere. Then open it again. You might see a new code.

2. Confirm your MyDISH login: DISH Anywhere uses the same sign-in as MyDISH.
If you cannot sign in to MyDISH, double-check your username and password. Do this before you test the activation code.

3. Look at your internet: Check that your TV or streaming device has internet. Also check the phone or computer you use to enter the code.

4. Update the DISH Anywhere app: DISH asks you to check the app version. On Fire TV and Android TV, go to the app page. If no update option shows after you check, DISH says you are already on the latest version.

5. Restart the device: Close the app. Then restart your Fire TV or Android TV device. It also suggests this when you hit login issues or app errors.

DISH Anywhere Device Limit

DISH limits On Demand authorized devices to five total. If you are already at five Fire TV or Android TV devices, you will need to remove one before you add a new device.

You can change this in your DISH Anywhere account under authorized devices.

On top of that, the DISH system requirements page lists the minimum OS versions you need. It calls out Fire TV and Fire Stick OS 7, Android TV OS 7, iOS 15.1, and iPadOS 15.1.
