New Switch 2 Release Date: When is it likely to be released?

Nintendo is set to launch the Game Shark, now known as the AI Shark, in September 2024, coinciding with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.

New Switch 2 Release Date: There are increasing rumours that Nintendo is getting ready to launch a new Switch version. According to a press statement from Altec Lansing, the formal launch of the Game Shark—now known as the AI Shark—is scheduled for September 2024, coinciding with the introduction of the Nintendo Switch 2.

It has now been modified to state “Altec Lansing plans on introducing its new offering in time for the holiday season 2024,” while the original is still visible on the Wayback Machine archive.

AI Shark retracted after first confirming that “Fall 2024” was the approximate release timeframe and then stating that “Nintendo has not officially clarified launch,” following Digital Trends’ publication of the story.

An AI Shark representative informed reporter Jason Schrier that they were only speculating on the Switch 2 release date. Compared to what AI Shark informed DigitalTrends, this is noticeably different.

New Switch 2 Release Date

September makes sense as the release window for the Switch 2—it falls just before the Christmas shopping season and gives plenty of time for the Switch’s announced releases to arrive. Considering that the first Switch was released in March, it’s possible that Christmas shopping isn’t Nintendo’s top priority.

Rumours that the Switch 2 might be introduced early this year were covered by us in December. These currently look less likely to hold water, but an announcement from Nintendo in the first or early quarter of the next year seems more likely. It’s also unverified that Nintendo allegedly showed off new hardware to a restricted group of partner developers at Gamescom 2023.

According to Polygon, Nintendo said during an earnings call that they do not anticipate releasing a new system this year. This is valid through March 31.

Right now, a lot of rumours are all we actually know about the Switch 2 release date. Although Nintendo has refrained from commenting on rumours, it appears that a lot of the pieces are starting to fit together and the sheer volume of them is encouraging. But keep in mind that Nintendo has never been a corporation to live up to expectations, so take the speculations with a grain of salt.
