About Sidho Kanho Birsha University

Sidho Kanho Birsha University, abbreviated SKBU, is a public state university located in Purulia district of West Bengal, India. It was established under an Act of the West Bengal Legislature on April, 2010. The varsity offers different undergraduate and postgraduate courses in liberal arts.

Sidho-Kanho-Birsha took a first gently but courageous step out of its chrysalis in the November of 2010, when it started out on its academic odyssey in Purulia, an area generally thought to be a back-of-the- beyond place of the benighted Jungle Mahal. Bolstered by the Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University Act brought forth by the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, the university dreams big of disseminating the cognitive ambience, thereby wafting itself gradually to the pinnacle of academic excellence.

The objective of this university is to carry the torch of higher education into the very interiors of the far-flung district of West Bengal.
