Chase Pay Yourself Back Q3 2026: Eligible Categories, Statement Credit Guide and Best Redemption Options

Launched in 2020, Chase Pay Yourself Back lets eligible cardholders kind of redeem Ultimate Rewards points as statement credits for qualifying purchases, instead of booking travel or stuff.

Chase Pay Yourself Back Q3 2026: For millions of Chase credit cardholders, Ultimate Rewards points are among the most valuable credit card currencies available. While many travelers prefer transferring points to airline and hotel partners, not everyone is planning a trip. That’s where Chase Pay Yourself Back comes in.

For Q3 2026 (July 1 through September 30), Chase has refreshed its eligible Pay Yourself Back categories across several Ultimate Rewards cards, giving customers another opportunity to redeem points for statement credits at values higher than standard cash back.

But does this redemption option actually provide good value? Here’s everything cardholders need to know.

What Is Chase Pay Yourself Back?

Launched in 2020, Chase Pay Yourself Back lets eligible cardholders kind of redeem Ultimate Rewards points as statement credits for qualifying purchases, instead of booking travel or stuff. It’s basically for when you want to use your rewards directly toward those charges, not go and book a trip.

Unlike a standard cash-back redemption typically worth 1 cent per point, Pay Yourself Back offers enhanced redemption values on select spending categories that change periodically depending on the card.

Is Pay Yourself Back Worth It?

The answer depends on how you typically use your Ultimate Rewards points. This is a really good way to cash out your Chase points for everyday spending that can save you money right away, even if you’re sitting on a huge balance and don’t plan to take a trip soon.

For example, you can use Chase points to redeem towards the cost of gas, public transit, and the annual fee for one of your cards, effectively getting cash back without having to take a trip first. Frequent flyers might still do better to transfer their Ultimate Rewards points over to Chase’s airline and hotel partners.

You don’t want to confuse this program with the Chase Freedom credit cards and the Quarterly 5% cash back that Chase is offering, because it’s different. Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex cardholders, for instance, will be able to earn 5% on spending at gas stations and EV charging, public transit and live entertainment, as well as United Way donations through Sept. 30, 2026, on up to $1,500 in combined spending per quarter in the categories (with 1% on other purchases; bonus categories require activation).
