Puthandu is the Tamil Hindu Calendar’s first day. The day will be observed on 14 April this year, according to the Gregorian Calendar.

Ambedkar Jayanti is also observed to commemorate the jurist’s commitment to combat societal ills like caste injustice and oppression. He was a staunch opponent of the caste system and worked tirelessly to eliminate it from society.

According to the Hindu calendar, Mahavir Jayanti falls in the month of Chaitra, on the 23rd day.
