Before enrolling at Kingston University, Barnes studied at Homefield Preparatory School in Sutton and King’s College School in Wimbledon. He completed his education with a degree in English and theatre. His directing credits include a few films like “The Golden Age.” It was in the 2000 season of “Doctors” that he first appeared on television. “Stardust,” a romantic fantasy adventure film from 2007, marked his first role in a full-length film. His big break came when he was cast as Prince Caspian in “The Chronicles of Narnia,” for which he was nominated for awards at the Teen Choice Awards, the National Movie Awards, and the M.T.V. Movie Awards. He starred in 2007’s “Easy Virtue” and provided vocals for the film’s soundtrack. At the Screen Actors Guild Awards, he and the ensemble of H.B.O.’s “Westworld” were nominated for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.” His role as General Kirigan in the 2021 TV series “Shadow and Bone” was a breakout success for him.
