Bob Ross Biography: On October 29, 1942, Robert Norman Ross, better known as Bob Ross, was born. Although he was born in Dayton Beach, Florida, his family relocated to Orlando, where he spent his childhood, shortly thereafter. While his mother, Ollie Ross, was a hostess, his father, Jack Ross, was a carpenter.

In ninth grade, Ross dropped out of secondary school to assist his family. He commenced the trade of carpentry alongside his father. Ross enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18, where he completed a period of service as a medical records technician. Ross subsequently attained the rank of master sergeant. During his time in the Air Force, Ross discovered his passion for art while enrolled in a club painting class. His leisure time was occupied with painting.

After observing the German painter Bill Alexander demonstrate a painting technique on television, Ross acquired the ability without delay. Ross initially began marketing landscape paintings. In order to pursue his true calling, Ross left the Air Force in 1981 after persuading a friend of his extraordinary abilities. Ross returned to Florida, where he traveled as a painting instructor for Alexander. Ross decided while traveling along the road to continue on his own. Ross served as an art instructor and presenter of a television program from 1983 to 1994. “The Joy of Painting” broadcast in countries throughout Europe, Latin America, Canada, and the United States, all of which contributed to its success.

Ross was a trieventhite spouse with a total of two offspring during his lifetime. Lynda Brown was wed to the painter two months prior to his demise. After receiving a lymphoma diagnosis, Ross passed away in July 1995.
