Bono has become a well-known social activist, having performed in the Live Aid, Band Aid, and Live 8 concerts and advocating for third-world debt relief and increased international involvement in the African AIDS crisis. He has appeared multiple times on Time’s list of the 100 most influential individuals. Bono co-founded the organisation DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa) in 2002, which he followed with Project Red, a well-known initiative against disease in Africa.
