Conan O’Brien Birthday

Conan Christopher O’Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on April 18, 1963. At Harvard, he was president of The Harvard Lampoon and a writer for the HBO comedy series “Not Necessarily the News.” In 1988, he joined the “Saturday Night Live” writing staff. He was a writer and producer for “The Simpsons” for two years, from 1991 to 1993.

In 1993, NBC approached O’Brien about taking over the “Late Night” hosting duties. Before moving to Los Angeles to host “The Tonight Show” for seven months, he accepted and remained the presenter until 2009. In 2010, O’Brien was selected as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People. After obtaining this honour, he embarked on a national stand-up comedy tour, the subject of the documentary “Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop.” He then moved on to host his own comedy show from 2010 to 2021.

His spontaneous hosting style has been described as “awkward, self-deprecating humour.” He has been a TV host for nearly 28 years. Letterman was the longest-serving active U.S. late-night talk show presenter until his retirement in 2015, when O’Brian surpassed him. This streak ended upon O’Brien’s retirement from late-night television in 2021. However, he is expected to launch a new show on HBO Max in 2022, so his career will not conclude with his retirement.
