Dorinda Medley Biography

Early Life

Dorinda Medley had to overcome adversity in order to emerge victorious. Medley is a Massachusetts native, born December 13, 1964, in the Berkshires to John and Diane Cinkala. She and her three siblings are of Italian and Polish descent because her father is a Polish immigrant. After earning her degree from Franklin and Marshall College, she spent an undisclosed amount of time working in Liz Claireborne’s showrooms in New York. She met Ralph Lynch, her first husband, while employed there.

Dorinda Medley later moved to London with him to establish a family and eventually launch DCL Cashmere, her own cashmere business. She became acquainted with a number of well-known London clients, including Princess Diana and Joan Collins, and she quickly made her mark on London society. After ten years in London, she had a daughter named Hannah, got divorced, and wanted to come back to New York to learn how to be a single mother in the big city.

Career

Dorinda Medley moved to New York to pursue a career in show business, and in the fourth season of Bravo TV’s “Real Housewives of New York City,” she made an appearance as a guest. She joined the show’s cast in 2014 and developed into a well-known character over the course of six seasons. She did not, however, return for the August 2021 season premiere. Thankfully, she will be joining the cast of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” for season two. In 2005, Medley wed Dr. Richard Medley, a well-known Washington power broker and a renowned speechwriter for congressman Geraldine Ferraro, who was running for vice president.

Along with celebrities like Bishop Desmond Tutu, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Secretary Madeleine Albright, President Bill and Secretary Hillary Clinton, they collaborated to raise money for charitable causes. When her husband, Dr. Medley, passed away in 2011, she experienced a devastating loss. She had always wanted a home, so he had purchased the Great Barrington Estate for her before he passed away.

In spite of the drastic changes brought about by losing a husband, friend, companion, and father figure, Medley and Hannah found strength in one another and in the people they loved. She ascended back to the top of New York society with tenacity and the help of her close friends, and she finally met her boyfriend John Mahdessian, the proprietor of Madame Paulette, the storied couture restoration house in New York. After dating for seven years—beginning in early 2012—the couple called it quits.

Medley spends her time and energy on her faith, her friends and family, going to social gatherings, and her love of pop culture. Her favorite charities to which she donates are the Ali Forney Center, Born This Way Foundation, Prevention, Joy.J Initiative, Ronald McDonald House, NYLovesKids.org, and Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation. In August 2021, the book “Make it Nice,” written by the reality star, was published and is available for purchase on Amazon. The book delves into her personal struggles and how, in spite of the odds, she managed to pull off a successful makeover.
