Earl Tywone Stevens Sr. (aka E-40) was born on November 15, 1967 in Vallejo, California. His mother, a divorcee, worked multiple jobs to support him and his siblings, Tenina and Dannell. Stevens was first exposed to hip hop after hearing Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight.” Since he was in elementary school, he has played both the bass and percussion drums.
