Gregory Eduardo Gory Guerrero Llanes was born in El Paso, Texas, on October 9, 1967. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in El Paso, Texas, in 1985, and subsequently received athletic scholarships to the University of New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands University. To pursue a professional wrestling career, he relocated to Mexico from a wrestling family with a notable reputation. Guerrero debuted as the inaugural Máscara Mágica in the CMLL (a professional wrestling organization headquartered in Mexico City), where he maintained his position until 1992. Guerrero made his professional wrestling début in 1992 under the alias Black Tiger II in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. This groundbreaking Latino wrestler established a reputation for being a menacing and cunning individual through the use of his Latino Heat gimmick and his eponymous catchphrase “I Lie!” I have cheated! “I Theft!”

He won the 1996 Best of the Super Juniors tournament for junior heavyweights upon his return to the United States. He effectively defended his heavyweight U.S. championship in 1997. Guerrero, Konnan, and Rey Mysterio Jr. were inducted as founding members of The Filthy Animals on May 31, 1999, following his return to WCW Monday Nitro. On January 31, 2000, he debuted in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as a member of The Radicalz on “Raw Is War.” On February 24, 2002, Guerrero debuted at The Revolution as a World Wrestling All-Stars contender.

In a Triple Threat Match for the WWA International Cruiserweight Championship, he defeated champion Juventud Guerrera and Psicosis. In July 2003, Guerrero subsequently participated in a tournament vying for the WWE U.S. Championship. By virtue of disqualification on SmackDown! on November 11, 2005, he defeated Mr. Kennedy and advanced to the SmackDown! Survivor Series roster.

He published his autobiography “Cheating Death, Stealing Life” in 2005; the title was derived from his catchphrase. Guerrero succumbed to acute cardiac failure as a result of an underlying ailment on November 13, 2005.

Guerrero sustained severe head injuries in a car accident; however, his condition remained unimpaired due to one of the most fundamental principles that professional wrestlers acquire while in flight.
