Janelle Monae Robinson, better known as Janelle Monae, is an American singer whose songs are known all over the world. They had her on December 1, 1985, in Kansas City, Kansas. Her mother was a cleaner, and her father was a truck driver. Oneae learned how to sing at the Baptist church where she grew up as a Christian. People in her family played music at The Baptist Church, the Church of God in Christ, and the Local A.M.E. Church. After high school, Monae went to F.L. Schlagle and then moved to New York to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. There, she was the only back person in her class. She dropped out quickly because she didn’t feel like she belonged there. She then moved to Atlanta and started at Perimeter College at Georgia State University.

Monae was on the Purple Ribbon All-Stars album “Got Purp? Vol. 2,” and her fame grew quickly after that. The record company “Bad Boy” signed her in 2006. In 2007, she put out her first solo album, “Metropolis.” The EP she put out in 2008, called “Metropolis: The Chase Suite (Special Edition),” had two new songs on it. It was for this EP that Monae was nominated for her first Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. In 2010, Monae put out her record “The ArchAndroid.” The Vanguard Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers was given to her that same year.

At the 53rd Grammy Awards in 2011, she sang with Bruno Mars and B.o.B. When the Nobel Peace Prize show took place in Oslo, Norway, in December 2011, Monae sang “Cold War” and “Tightrope.” That year, Monae was “Cover Girl’s” face.
