His parents, both former Marines, welcomed him into the world in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, on March 2, 1962. Catholic by upbringing, Bon Jovi is of Italian, Slovak, German, and Russian descent. At the age of 13, he began playing the keyboard and guitar with his first band, Raze. During his teenage years, he founded John Bongiovi and the Wild Ones and The Rest. In March 1983, Bon Jovi and his friend David Bryan reached out to Alec John Such, Tico Torres, and Richie Sambora to form the band Bon Jovi. The following year, their first single, ‘Runway,’ which later reached the top 40, was released.
On August 7, 1990, Bon Jovi released his first solo album, “Blaze of Glory.” A song from the album won a Golden Globe and an American Music Award for “Favorite Pop/Rock Single” in 1991.
