Early Life

Richards was born in Dartford, Kent, the son of Herbert William Richards and Doris Maud Lydia. Richards started dating model Patti Hansen in 1979. Theodora Dupree and Alexandra Nicole, their daughters, were born in 1985 and 1986, respectively. Tara Richards, Marlon Richards, and Angela Richards are three more of his children who are descended from different mothers. In 1962, he became a member of The Rolling Stones. The band consisted of Ian Stewart, Brian Jones, and Mick Jagger at the time.

Career

The band’s official debut was held on July 12, 1962, at the Oxford Street nightclub Marquee Club in London. On June 7, 1963, the trio released their first single, “Come On.” 1965 saw the number one spot on the U.S. charts for his hit single “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction,” one of the greatest rock tunes ever recorded. The 1980 album “Emotional Rescue” immediately shot to fame. The album topped the U.S. chart for seven weeks and reached number one in the United Kingdom. 1993 saw Richards’ induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well. He and his bandmates were inducted into the U.K. Music Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, respectively.

In the 2007 motion picture “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” he played Captain Jack Sparrow’s father in a brief cameo. On “Time” magazine’s 2009 list of the “10 Greatest Electric Guitar Players of All Time,” he ranked number four. 2009 saw him win the Spike TV Scream Awards at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, where he was presented with the Rock Immortal Award. In August 2007, Richards consented to a publishing deal for his autobiography, “Life,” which was released on October 26, 2010.
