Early Life

On December 29, 1996, Minatozaki Sana was born in Tennoji-ku, Osaka, Japan. Her parents only have her as a youngster. Girls’ Generation and KARA’s increasing success in Japan is largely responsible for Minatozaki’s initial interest in K-pop. The EXILE tribe member Nakatsuka Yuta of Generations was her previous dancing instructor.

When Minatozaki was 14 years old in 2011 whilst shopping with her pals at the Osaka Namba Walk, she was noticed by JYP Entertainment. She was invited to the 2011 JYP Japan Audition by the scouts. During the audition, Minatozaki sang the famous song “Mr. Taxi” by Girls’ Generation. Minatozaki relocated to South Korea after receiving her middle school diploma in March 2012, and on April 13, 2012, she started her trainee years with JYP.
