After transitioning to book flipping, he initiated the production of weekly comic segments that were featured in the local newspaper. In 1991, following his enrollment at the Kent School, he earned his high school diploma. The Rhode Island School of Design bestowed upon him a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

A senior year thesis film entitled “The Life of Larry” was submitted, and it was subsequently forwarded to Hanna-Barbera, an animation studio, by his professor.
