Sobhita Dhulipala Biography: Sobhita Dhulipala is an Indian actress who predominantly appears in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu films. She claimed the Femina Miss India Earth 2013 crown and represented India at Miss Earth 2013. Dhulipala made her acting début in Anurag Kashyap’s 2016 thriller film Raman Raghav 2.0 and ascended to prominence in the 2019 Amazon Prime Video drama series Made in Heaven.
Sobhitha Dhulipala was born in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, to a Telugu Brahmin family on 31 May 1992. Her father, Venugopal Rao, was an engineer for the Merchant Navy, and her mother, Santha Kamakshi, taught elementary education. She was a studious child who was only concerned about “being well-read, good in studies, and school captain” as she grew up in Visakhapatnam. She migrated to Mumbai alone at the age of sixteen, desiring to expand her horizons beyond her hometown, and later attended H.R. College of Commerce and Economics at the University of Mumbai. She is also a trained Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi classical performer. In 2010, Dhulipala was crowned Navy Queen at the annual Navy Ball.
After surviving the auditions, she chose to proceed to the rounds. After winning Femina Miss India South 2013, a zonal pageant of Femina Miss India, Dhulipala was automatically entered into the top 23 of the 50th edition of Femina Miss India and placed second. In addition, she received the titles of Miss Stylish Hair, Miss Adventurous, Miss Fashion Icon, Miss Talent, and Miss digital Diva. Subsequently, she represented India at Miss Earth 2013 in the Philippines, but she was unable to place in the top 20, earning instead the sub-titles of Miss Photogenic, Miss Beauty for a cause, Miss Talent, and Miss Beautiful visage. She also appeared in the 2014 Kingfisher calendar.
Dhulipala made her film début with Anurag Kashyap’s ”Raman Raghav 2.0” in 2016. In July 2016, he also inked a three-film contract with Kashyap’s production company, Phantom Films. The film premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival Director’s Fortnight, where she was nominated for best supporting performance. In early August 2016, she signed on to star opposite Saif Ali Khan in the films ”Kaalakaandi” (directed by Akshat Verma) and ”Chef” (directed by Raja Menon).
In 2018, Dhulipala starred alongside Adivi Sesh in the Telugu film Goodachari. She was also one of the main characters in the Amazon Prime original series Made In Heaven. In 2019, she played a pivotal role as an intelligence agency operative in ”Bard of Blood,” an Indian fictional spy thriller Netflix web television series based on the 2015 espionage novel of the same name.
Dhulipala had a supporting character in the Hindi-Telugu biographical action film Major starring Adivi Sesh as Sandeep Unnikrishnan in 2022. She also appeared in the period film Ponniyin Selvan by Mani Ratnam.
Sobhita Dhulipala was born to a family of Telugu Brahmins. Venugpopal Rao is her father, while Santha Rao is her mother.
Her younger sister’s name is Samantha. She is in a relationship with fashion designer and co-founder of the fashion brand Huemn Pranav Misra.
