Yelawolf Biography:

Early Life

Although Michael Wayne Atha, best known by his stage name Yelawolf, was born in Alabama, he spent his early years moving about a lot. He was educated at Nashville’s Carter Lawrence Elementary School after growing up in Antioch, Tennessee.

Career

Atha released “Creekwater,” an indie record, as his first full-length release. Later, he obtained a record deal with Sony BMG to release the promotional single “Kickin.” After growing disillusioned with life while signed to a major label, he made his way back to the underground rap scene. After feeling rejuvenated, he started using mixtapes and MySpace to grow his fan base. Bizarre’s 2010 album “Friday Night” had an appearance that announced the rapper’s affiliation with Eminem’s Shady Records and its roster of musicians. 2011 saw the announcement of his label contract, and before the end of the year, “Radioactive,” his formal debut album, had been made available. Eminem, Kid Rock, Lil Jon, Gangsta Boo, and names like Diplo and Jim Jonsin were among the guests.

A year later, Travis Barker, the drummer for Blink-182, and Atha worked together on the rap-rock EP “Psycho White.” Hopsin’s 2013 tour served as a teaser for his album “Love Story,” but the record wasn’t released until 2015 since Atha was on tour with D.J. Paul and Shady Records was commemorating its 15th anniversary. In addition to producing the album, Eminem appeared as a guest on the song “Best Friend.” Atha went on tour and released a number of singles after “Love Story.” The first song to be published was “Out of Control,” a collaboration with Travis Barker. “Daylight,” “Shadows,” and “Row Your Boat” came next.

In 2017, he dropped the single “Punk,” which featured Juicy J and Barker. Atha unveiled “Trunk Muzik III,” the follow-up to his two earlier “Trunk Muzik” mixtapes, after teasering it for some time. This would be his last release under the Shady Records label and his fifth official album. In March 2019, “Trunk Muzik III,” which included Machine Gun Kelly, Rittz, and numerous other guests, was released. Later that year, his independent label Slumerican released his sixth studio album, “Ghetto Cowboy.” Between February and April of 2021, Atha released five new projects, marking a very productive era for the artist.

Personal Life

In July 2013, Atha asked his fiancée, artist Fefe Dobson, to marry him. As of 2015, he had three children. On September 27, 2019, they got married.
