AMU climbs seven positions to top 10 in NIRF University Rankings 2021

NIRF University Rankings 2021: While Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has significantly improved its overall ranking among all institutions in the country, it has moved up by 7 spots and is now ranked 10th in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) University Ranking 2021 released by Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan at a virtual event on Sept 9, 2021.

“It is a matter of great pride that AMU has been ranked among top ten universities in the country by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) University Ranking 2021. These rankings are a reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment of staff members and students”, said AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor while congratulating the staff, students and alumni on this achievement.

He said that the Ranking Committee and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of AMU have been working tirelessly to compile data for these rankings and their sincerity and commitment is laudable.

Prof Mansoor added that AMU has again demonstrated that it is one of the best institutions in India and has been making significant contributions in the field of teaching, learning, research and outreach activities for the betterment of the society and country at large.

AMU has also improved its rankings in various disciplines this year. The Faculty of Law has moved up by two spots in comparison to last year and has been adjudged 11th best in the country in the latest NIRF Rankings 2021. In fact, this year’s rankings are the best ever for Faculty of Law since the inception of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2015. The Department of Architecture of AMU has improved by three positions and is now ranked 13th best in India. Among the medical colleges, J N Medical College of AMU has been ranked among top 15 institutions in the country while AMU’s Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College has for the first time been ranked and placed at 26th position. In the Engineering discipline too AMU’s Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology has improved by four spots in comparison to last year’s NIRF Rankings and is now placed at 35th position in India.

“Such across the board improvement in rankings on various parameters and disciplines would not have been possible without the focussed efforts of the students and staff who deserve all the praise” said Prof. Salim Beg, Chairman, Ranking Committee, AMU.

“Our performance has improved in nearly all discipline-wise rankings too which is a very good sign and a vindication of the fact that there has been an overall improvement in teaching, learning and research at AMU”, said Prof. Asad U Khan, Convenor, Ranking Committee, while thanking the members of the Ranking Committee of AMU for their cooperation.

“All the stakeholders deserve to be congratulated for having collectively worked towards improving the rankings. We are confident that in the coming years we would not only retain our current ranking but strive to occupy a place among top five institutions in India” said Prof Mohammed Naved Khan, Coordinator, NIRF Rankings, and Member of Committee for Ranking, AMU.

Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, AMU continues to march ahead with conviction in its centenary year and make noteworthy contributions in the fields of higher education and nation-building.
