Aligarh Muslim University is a public university funded by the government of India. It ranks 9th among the top 10 institutions in the country. AMU was initiated as MAO College set up by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. In the year of 1920 it had granted as AMU. It is affiliated as a central university approved by UGC.
