NEET UG 2022: Female Candidates Asked To Remove Innerwear bra PIL Before High Court Re exam Compensation

The Kerala High Court is likely to hear today a petition related to the matter of allegedly forcing girl students to remove their innerwear before entering the NEET exam centre. The petition, filed after this incident of misbehavior of girl students, has requested for framing of a standard guideline for conducting examinations across the country. Apart from framing a standard guideline for the examinations, the PIL has sought a direction to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to allow the affected female candidates to re-appear, citing the gloomy condition of the day. Because then, she could not concentrate during the exam. The petition has also sought free counseling for the affected students as well as compensation for the trauma and mental agony caused to them.

After the NEET examination, the parents of a girl student lodged a complaint with the police that the girl students appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test were asked to remove their innerwear to allow them to appear in the examination in Kollam district and one of these girl students also had her daughter. who is in shock after the incident.

Seven people were arrested in connection with the incident on July 17 after the parents of one of the affected participants lodged a police complaint. Of these seven people, five are women and two are men, one of whom was a NEET supervisor and the other an examination coordinator.

Three of the arrested women worked for an agency contracted by the NTA and the rest were employed in a private educational institution in Ayur, where the incident took place. All the seven accused were released on bail by the trial court last week. Meanwhile, the NTA has constituted a fact-finding committee to visit Kollam.


The PIL states that this is not the first time such an incident has happened in the name of examination and the reason is lack of a common guideline or system for conducting the examination. It has also been claimed in the petition that the physical examination just before the examination affects the memory of the students.


Two days after the incident, the complainant father had told reporters that his daughter had appeared for the NEET exam and was yet to come out of the shock in which she had to sit for the exam without underwear for more than three hours. was.


The girl’s father had told a TV channel that his daughter had dressed as per the dress code mentioned in the NEET bulletin. Condemning the incident, various organizations protested demanding action against the culprits.


Police registered a case in connection with the incident. The Kerala State Human Rights Commission had also ordered an inquiry into the incident.
