Delhi University VC urges alumni to help poor people amid lockdown

DU teachers have donated their one day salary to the Prime Minister's Cares Fund which is about four crores rupees.

The world is busy fighting the outbreak of Coronaviruspandemic which has engulfed the world in its fold. Apart from essential and healthcare services, almost all other services are in lockdown. Educational institutions are also one of the most hit due to Covid-19. Online classes are being taken to provide education to the students. Due to lockdown, Delhi University VC is involved in providing relief packages to poor people around its campuses.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Delhi University, Prof. Yogesh Kumar Tyagi has appealed to Delhi University (DU) alumni to help people in this time of coronavirus pandemic. He has written a letter to the alumni and stressed on the need to participate wholeheartedly in the service of the nation. DU is doing many things at its level. In the same way, a task force has been formed to pay attention to the problems and to solve them.

Apart from this, a campaign called DU Cares for Numbers has been launched to provide ration and essential goods to the poor people living near the North and South Campus of the University.

DU teachers have donated their one day salary to the Prime Minister’s Cares Fund which is about four crores rupees.

He has released an e-mail address UnitedAgainstCorona@du.ac.in and asked DU alumni to send their ideas and feedback.

Like all the educational institutions in the country, DU is also close to educational purposes. Students are one of the most hit due to coronavirus pandemic. They have suffered a lot and no one yet knows when will normal education in the world will start. Coronavirus may force to focus on online education seriously.
