After two abortive voyages, Columbus set sail again and landed at Guanahani on his third attempt. Columbus, the famous European explorer and the first known person to discover the American coastlines, set foot in the Americas for the first time on October 12, 1498. His discovery initiated one of the most remarkable twists of events in the world’s history.
