Annually, School Bus Drivers’ Day is celebrated on the fourth Tuesday of April. This year, the date is April 25. California is where School Bus Drivers’ Day originated. After a period of unofficial observance, the California legislature declared the day an official holiday. In 2009, the day was established to honour school bus drivers in California for their enduring and exceptional contributions to the education of students. The holiday appears to have spread after being instituted in one state for casual observance.

In 2009, the California State Assembly proclaimed School Bus Drivers Day. It is a well-deserved tribute to the men and women who dedicate their lives to ensuring that children attend school each and every day while remaining patient, helpful, and optimistic throughout.
