Lailatul Barat is a 2-day procession performed by the Islamic community from March 7 to March 8 this year. Is there no one suffering whom I could help? “Doesn’t such-and-such exist?” Thus, the night begins at sunset on the 14th of Sha’ban and ends at dawn on the 15th. This month, women who menstruated during Ramadan have the opportunity to make amends.
The Islamic tradition commemorates Muhammad, who prostrated himself in prayer for so long that his wife feared he had perished. After confirming that he was still alive, she went to bed and reassured herself that he was in good health. Muhammad explained to his wife that he was observing a sacred night during which God pardons believers and frees countless individuals from hell.
On Lailatul Barat, celebrations, cooking, and remaining up all night in prayer are all components of the celebrations. Young children are afforded a break from school in order to allow them to rest. On this night, people in some parts of the globe visit graves and honour their ancestors. In addition to worshipping throughout the night, Islamic traditions require Muslims to fast on the 15th of Sha’ban.
