Because of frozen food, we never have to cook! We can keep a variety of ready-to-eat meals in our freezers that require only a few minutes in the microwave.
National Frozen Food Day 2023 (US): On March 6, we celebrate subzero sustenance with National Frozen Food Day. President Ronald Reagan established the day in 1984 with Proclamation #5157: “Now, therefore, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim March 6, 1984, as Frozen Food Day, and I call upon the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.” To celebrate National Frozen Food Day, rush to the frozen food aisle and stock up your freezers; the president demands it!
Because of frozen food, we never have to cook! We can keep a variety of ready-to-eat meals in our freezers that require only a few minutes in the microwave. Whether we are in the mood for Indian curry, Thai noodles, or a traditional pot pie, the frozen food aisle is a short distance from our stomachs. We love vegetables (we do! ), but it seems as though we are constantly discarding produce that has gone bad before we can use it. With frozen kale and spinach in the freezer, we always have access to greens — even if we haven’t been to the market in weeks! Ice cream is one of the world’s tastiest foods, and thanks to the marvels of the frozen food industry, we can always have it in our homes. Everything in the frozen food aisle is frozen, including ice cream pints, ice cream bars, and ice cream sandwiches.
On this special day, celebrate the diversity of the frozen food industry by eating frozen foods for every meal. Enjoy a frozen waffle for breakfast, a frozen burrito for lunch, a delicious frozen pizza for dinner, and a delicious bowl of ice cream for dessert. Bon appetit!
TV dinners, plastic trays containing a complete meal consisting of a main dish and sides designed for consumption in front of the television, are the quintessential American frozen food. Invite your friends over for a dinner party where TV dinners are the order of the day. Buy a variety and let your friends choose!
National Frozen Food Day was created to support the frozen food industry, but you can also celebrate the freezer’s magic by making your own frozen foods! Make a large pot of stew or soup and freeze it in individual portions, or make your own elaborate TV dinners.
