National Tackle Kids Cancer Day is observed annually on September 15 to bring attention to the critical need for paediatric cancer fundraising. Despite the increasing incidence of childhood cancer, only 4% of federal expenditure is allocated to paediatric cancer research. Tackle Kids Cancer has raised $10 million from over 7,000 supporters under the stewardship of Hackensack University Medical Centre Foundation. Children’s Cancer Institute invests the proceeds in innovative research and survivor rehabilitation programmes. By observing the day and raising awareness about the cause, good Samaritans have the opportunity to participate in over a dozen clinical trials and neuro-oncology programmes designed to combat childhood cancer.

Hackensack University Medical Centre Foundation established National Tackle Kids Cancer Day in 2017 to further raise awareness about the dearth of medical and financial infrastructure in paediatric cancer research, citing the success of the programme.
Children who survive cancer face a difficult future. This is why Tackle Kids Cancer also funds the Cure and Beyond Programme, which assists cancer survivors in reintegrating into society.
