However, some individuals are not diagnosed until they are 50 or 60 years old. In some individuals, anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen can increase the risk of disease or exacerbate an existing condition. IBD risk factors include colon cancer, inflammation in the joints, scarring in the bile ducts, and blood clotting.
