Anthony Perkins Cause Of Death

Leslee Dart, a press agent who said she was working for the family, said that Mr. Perkins had died from complications from AIDS on Saturday night.

Mr. Perkins started out as Hollywood’s next big teen star, but in one of his first movies, “Psycho,” he created a character that has become an American icon. It was an image he could never get rid of as an actor, and he went back to it in the first of three sequels more than 25 years later.

Ms. Dart says that as Mr. Perkins’ health got worse last week, he wanted to talk about it. Instead of saying “I’m not too much at being noble, but it doesn’t take much to see that the problems of one old actor don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy old world,” he chose to keep quiet. This was a wrong quote from “Casablanca.”

A lot of people think that this disease is God’s way of punishing them for their sins, but I think it was sent to teach us to care more about each other.

He tried out for a part in Elia Kazan’s “East of Eden” right before he graduated from high school in 1954, but James Dean, a young actor he didn’t know, beat him out. However, Mr. Kazan asked Mr. Perkins to fill in for John Kerr as Tom Lee, a sensitive teen on Broadway in “Tea and Sympathy.”
