At approximately 3 a.m., a gunshot occurred at the Palmetto at Lakeside apartments on Rio Grande Avenue off Holden Avenue.

The victim, identified as Jamel Tyrone Brown, was discovered by responding deputies suffering from a gunshot wound. He was declared deceased at the site. Investigators believe Brown was shot multiple times, but the motive remains unknown.

What the Family of the Victim Said

“I heard a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot,” said a resident of the apartment complex. “As I glanced out the window, I noticed a man lying on the ground. He was immobile.”
