There are counties that limit the amount of time bars can be open on Sundays.

Beer and Wine This Thanksgiving: On Thanksgiving Day, you’re going to your grandmother’s house, or maybe this is your first holiday spent with your potential in-laws. As you’re heading there, you realise you should have picked up a 12-pack to split with your dad and uncles as you watch the game, or a bottle of wine as a hostess gift.

It is mandatory for retail liquor establishments to remain closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is up to each store owner whether they will be open the day prior.

Where can you grab beer, wine and spirits on Thanksgiving Day?

While they are only allowed to sell wine and beer in prepackaged forms, grocery stores and petrol stations are free to sell alcoholic beverages on holidays. Furthermore, Sunday sales are unrestricted, in contrast to liquor outlets.

Oklahoma’s regulations contain a patchwork of limitations on both Sundays and holidays when it comes to what state regulators refer to as a “mixed-beverage establishment” – bar, club, pub or dive. There are counties that limit the amount of time bars can be open on Sundays, and there are counties that highlight holidays on which drinking is not permitted.

In Oklahoma County, on the other hand, there are no such restrictions, therefore the only places to buy anything stronger than wine or beer on Thanksgiving Day are the neighbourhood open bars and pubs.
